A comeback the Russian player won his maiden trophy for over two years with a win over opponent Moutet in the competition championship match.

Medvedev, a former top-ranked player, has experienced a difficult period, winning just one match at the major tournaments and suffering a difficult moment at the New York tournament.

The player's varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serve in specific - caused him dropping out of the top ten and eventually parting ways with long-time trainer Gilles Cervara.

Currently training with Thomas Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has steadily progressed in the recent weeks - culminating in a hard-fought competitive victory over opponent Moutet.

This marks Medvedev's first championship since the Italian tournament and maiden on a hard court from spring of the previous year.

The win also indicates the Russian has won twenty-one championships at 21 different competitions.

"It's the first time I am participating in a event with my both daughters at once, so to secure a trophy is really nice," stated tennis professional Daniil Medvedev.

"This victory is in tribute of my second daughter her name, because the initial championship I won when my first daughter her name was delivered was for her."

The tennis star, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, including in the German tournament previously this season.

His counter-punching play style and frequent reactions on the tennis court had prompted some to wonder if his skill to compete at the elite level was concluded.

However the athlete has implemented adjustments in the past month, attempting to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better serve.

Medvedev fought back from a disadvantage in the initial set against the difficult Frenchman, winning four of the concluding five games to go ahead.

Both players traded service breaks in the middle set before the Frenchman, striving for his maiden professional title, gained dominance to create a third set.

He saved 4 early-game opportunities in a competitive final set before the Russian secured a break to 15 to secure the win.

Appropriately, the winner clinched the win with a rally at the front of the court, with Moutet failing to control a return after over two and a half hours.
